International bass act Opiuo is set to grace Melbourne with his renowned auditory and visual creations on the 16th of September at Northcote Theatre, presented by Slurp Music and The Operatives in support of his next full length album ‘A Shape Of Sound’.

Following the highly anticipated release of the first single off the album, ‘Gravitate’ feature vocalist Jordan Dennis will be joining him on tour, alongside Wilma, Sun:Monx (a special presentation by Austero and Opiuo) and Vessa for the Melbourne show.

Opiuo says, “This album and tour are years in the making & easily my most evolved yet! Starting the tour in the Southern Hemisphere means everything to me, in my home countries, with so many friends too. I’ll be controlling all the visual elements & performing the music live on the fly to make it the most spontaneous, involved, ever expanding show I possibly can! I'm extremely excited to show you all the new music, share the dance floor, and bring this vision to life!”

The award-winning artist/producer born Oscar Davey-Wraight has built his highly respected career from a catalogue of infectious sonics that blend funk, soul, psychedelia, and booty-shaking bass. Born in the festival paddocks of rural New Zealand, Opiuo was introduced to the magic of live music from a young age by the early incarnations of Aotearoa’s electronic music scene. Surrounded by celebrations of life through self-expression, dance and giant sound systems, Opiuo’s music has positivity and movement at its core.

Now calling Australia home, Opiuo frequently tours his party-starting music throughout the globe. Having spent more than a decade performing at some of the world's most renowned festivals and venues including Lollapalooza (US), Glastonbury (UK), and Splendour In The Grass (AU), as well as selling out Colorado’s world-famous Red Rocks Amphitheatre, he’s performed his music in an unimaginably large array of formats. From the self-built SYZYGY Orchestras, to collaborating with symphony choirs, touring his own Opiuo Band, and most recently as an immersive solo audio & visual show, his live creativity is limitless. Well and truly risking it all in the name of expression & freedom inside what is possible as an electronic producer and performer, to incredible praise.

His decades of evolution have been rewarded, taking home the New Zealand Music Award for Best Electronic Album in 2014, and his catalogue is vast. Having released 4 full-length albums, 10 EPs, and a myriad of singles and remixes over the last 12 years. His 5th studio album is titled ‘A Shape Of Sound’ and is on the way this August. His most diverse, expansive, and detailed yet.
