Perth Folk and Roots Club is proud to announce the Tattersalls Folk and Roots series at the Tattersalls Bowling and Recreation Club on Thursday 14th July 2022 with the support of the Australian Governments Live Music Australia as well as the Tattersalls Bowling and Recreation Club and City of Perth. The performances are from 6pm to 9pm at Tattersalls Bowling and Recreation Club, 2 Plain Street, Perth. For this event, Perth Folk and Roots Club has Up and Adam and GypsyLou. Events are free and meals are available through The Kitchen on Cambridge, the in-house caterer who will be providing meals for the event.

‘Perth Folk and Roots Club is proud to be able to announce the support of the Australian Governments Live Music Australia supporting live music in the heart of Perth with the support of City of Perth and the Tattersalls Bowling and Recreation Club‘, said Keith Anthonisz, President of the Perth Folk and Roots Club.

Up and Adam is a local Western Australian Claw hammer banjo player, uniquely different in his playing style and presentation. Up and Adam’s style is influenced by old time, mountain style, traditional American folk and roots music. Up and Adam also has a big voice to go with his mountain style music. This emerging artist tells his story with original songs and obscure covers and promises to take you places that you may not expect a banjo to go. Up and Adam also has a collection of banjos including homemade rustic banjos that add to the atmosphere of connecting to a by gone time of mountain folk. Up and Adam live performances include playing at the Roleystone Musicians Club, FolkLore WA, Fremantle Gaslight Club and the Ravenswood Hotel Folk festival. FolkLore WA review of Up and Adam noted, “Armed with a collection of banjos, each one as unique and effective as the next, Up and Adam invokes sounds from a forgotten era that oozes heart, wisdom and soul. Joyfully delivering tales with sounds that erupt deep from the heart of the Appalachian mountains, whilst still sounding fresh and exciting.”

GypsyLou is a two-part vocal harmony duo with guitar accompaniment, playing traditional Irish and Scottish folk music, original indie-folk songs plus covers of popular music. Carrie Lee is a singer/songwriter who has been performing music in Perth for the past 6 years, involved in various cover bands and projects as a singer and guitar player, and as a solo performer/busker. Her influences are eclectic, including blues, jazz, rock and folk music. Katie McMahon hails from Scotland, and is well-steeped in the traditional music of that part of the world. She studied music extensively throughout her schooling and has been a member of various choirs. She particularly enjoys singing in the Scottish national language of Gaelic and revels in its unique traditional sound. GypsyLou have a six-track EP, Girl In Blue, available across all platforms.

‘As always we are also looking for up and coming artists to do a few numbers for the audience’, Keith added.
