Rachmaninov with a Cello

Newcastle Music Festival presents Teije Hylkema (cello) and Grace Kim (piano) in a superb concert featuring the great music of Rachmaninov. The concert includes works for solo cello by J.S. Bach, a composition for solo cello by Ross Fiddes, and concludes with Rachmaninov’s great sonata for cello and piano in g minor, Opus 19. written in 1901, not long after the triumphant success of his 2nd piano concerto. We are fortunate to have Teije Hylkema, who is Principal Cello of the Opera Australia Orchestra, with pianist Grace Kim, to perform this work in the festival.
