Sophie Edwards

Singer-songwriter Sophie Edwards has been a staple in the Canberra music space for multiple years now, and most recently has been pursuing a steady stream of new music that she is ready to share.

Influenced by a myriad of genres and styles, from folk to jazz and pop, Sophie pairs acoustic-driven instruments with hard-hitting lyrics to create a repertoire of expressive, moody pop songs. Having her music compared to the likes of Vera Blue and Meg Mac, Sophie brings her songs to a live audience in an authentic and genuine fashion that continues to leave listeners stunned and hungry for more. Some of Sophie’s performance highlights include Front Yard Fest, the Groovin the Moo Official Warmup Party, and support slots for Odette, Alice Skye, Highline, Lucy Sugerman and Hope Wilkins.

After releasing a couple of singles at the start of career, Sophie made an exciting return in 2020 with the release of ‘Seconds’ - her first under new label Vacant Room Records. Sophie continued to make the most of 2020 by recording a string of new material, as well as celebrating the announcements of winning both the Women in Music Mentor Program for the Australian Independent Record Labels Association and a mentorship with Ricochet MATES, led by KLP.

Sophie welcomed 2021 with a mini-tour, playing shows in Melbourne, Wollongong, Canberra and the Central West of NSW, and in late 2021 she released her new single “Next” before releasing her EP “FEEL AGAIN SOON”.

This year, Sophie is focusing on releasing her own self-produced music, with her first self-produced track “I Guess” being released in March. This has been Sophie’s most successful and fulfilling release, receiving over 10,000 streams on Apple Music, and editorial playlist placements on Apple Music and Spotify.
