Bicycle Network has announced that the 2021 Great Vic Bike Ride, scheduled to run 27 November to 5 December 2021, will be transformed into a four-day event from 31 March to 3 April 2022 – rebranded the Little Vic.
Bicycle Network did everything in its power to try and run a Great Vic in 2021 but a 9-day riding and camping event is not possible in the current COVID-19 climate.
Bicycle Network have worked hard to put together a ride which delivers on many of the best parts of the Great Vic. Importantly, the Little Vic will also provide a significant boost to our many volunteers, suppliers and gracious hosts in the Grampians region.
The 235-kilometre Little Vic has an exceptional mix of scenery, charming host towns, wildlife and the awe-inspiring Grampians National Park.
To attend the Little Vic, you will need to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 if you're over the age of 12.
The event will be capped at 3,000 riders.
While Bicycle Network is confident that the ride will take place next year, should the event be cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions, its COVID Refund Policy will apply.
Highlights include:
- Grampians National Park
- A Halls Gap arrival day
- Finish line at Seppelt Winery, Great Western
- A chance to slow down and see Victoria from the seat of a bicycle
- Being part of the face-to-face sense of community that was missing for much of the last two years
This event will help support the ongoing economic recovery of small communities across the Grampians region and it is great to know that participants will have a high propensity to revisit the destinations they travel through on their journey effectively creating up to 3000 ambassadors for western Victoria.
Bicycle Network would like to thank all the communities who’ve supported us over the past 18-months including Northern Grampians Shire, Horsham Rural City, Ararat Rural City Council, Southern Grampians Shire, Hindmarsh Shire Council, Yarriambiack Shire Council and Grampians Tourism.
Seppelt Wines will assist with post-ride celebrations at Great Western.
WHAT: the Little Vic Bike Ride is a fully supported bike riding and camping holiday. There is extensive support provided including meals, luggage transfers and on-route support. A licensed cafe, bar and restaurant under canvas, full medical team, entertainment and bicycle maintenance facilities.
HOSTED BY: Bicycle Network
WHEN: Thursday 31 March to Sunday 3 April 2022
WHERE: The four-day bike riding holiday will start in Halls Gap on Thursday 31 March and include stays at Dunkeld (1st April) and Halls Gap (2nd) and with a finish in Great Western.
COST: $635 for adults, $579 for concession, $505 for youth (13 – 17), $325 for children (6 –12), and free for five and under. Bicycle Network members get 10% off all prices except for concession tickets.
COVID-19 PROCEDURES: A COVIDSafe plan will follow the Victorian Government’s Public Events Framework and be developed in consultation with relevant industry experts and authorities.. This includes special start and finish line procedures, physical distancing and hygiene measures at all event sites. Click here to see COVIDSafe changes.
A COVID-19 ticket policy offers refunds and transfers if COVID-19 rules or restrictions prevent you from participating.
