The Revlon Girl is a touching and cathartic play by Neil Anthony Docking based on a true story. It’s set in Aberfan, a Welsh mining village where an enormous slag heap collapsed and slid down the mountain in 1966, burying 144 people. The school was right in its path, and 116 children died.

Docking’s intelligent and sensitive script really examines grief and the hoped-for recovery from every angle and has researched incredibly well to give us the facts unfolding throughout the play. We are drawn in to what really happened and can imagine the distraught parents frantically trying to find their buried children.

‘The Revlon Girl is that rare beast… a play that stands on the quality of the script, acting and direction superbly managed by Glenda Campi’

We join the weekly bereaved mothers meeting held (upstairs in the recreation room of the Aberfan Hotel) in support of each other, to talk, cry, and laugh without feeling guilty. And because they’ve “let themselves go” Audrey invites the Revlon make-up consultant to come along and give them some fresh tips to brighten up their lives...

Not to be missed! Impeccably researched and presented by a wealth of fine talented women.
