Newcastle Music Festival proudly presents a concert in support of Mother Earth. Be carried along on sound from the antiphony of Hildegard of Bingen, nearly 1000 years ago, through settings of the modern mysticism of Walter de la Mare, and the laments of the ill-fated Lili Boulanger, to the world premiere of Ross Fiddes' very contemporary "Toasting Mother Earth".
This incredible concert presents singer Anna Fraser and Jack Symonds, accompanist and composer, as they journey through the world of American minimalism, Japanese music fusing Eastern and Western traditions, more new Australian works, and another world premiere work, five Nocturnes titled Guardare, meravigliarsi… by Jack Symonds himself. Anna says: "Each piece selected for this programme... sends provocative messages for us all to be more attuned to the miniscule changes in our environment (like the yearly changes of the season) and not to allow ourselves to be complacent about caring for our shared ‘home’ but make active changes each day to sustain our existence on this unique planet."
This concert will be an artistic and musical highlight of the festival - don't miss it. 10% discount for early bird online tickets purchased prior to June 1. Fees and charges apply. Open seating. Door sales unless sold out.
