Weave it!

Presented by Convent Kids at Abbotsford Convent, Weave It! – is a free, interactive and evolving exhibition, multi-sensory installation and workshop series for children and their grown-ups to immerse in the engaging practice of textiles and weaving.

Join multidisciplinary textile artists Lisa Waup (Gunditjmara and Torres Strait Islander) and John Brooks to create a growing wonderland of colourful, bright and fun fabrics and textures throughout the gallery spaces at The Store (formally c3 Contemporary Art Space) at Abbotsford Convent.

Learn craft practices grounded in First Nations explorations of interconnectivity, storytelling, and sustainability through hands-on craft incorporating natural and found materials such as sticks or recycled materials to build into the work.
Kids and their parents are welcome to drop in, join workshops and collaborate through come-and-go activities that spark discussions about recycling materials, retelling the stories of First Nation cultures and celebrating community.
