A joyful celebration of community spirit

After sold out seasons in 2018 and 2019, this Black Swan State Theatre Company commission makes a cross-country journey to spread joy with an enduring story of love; that force of nature that strikes like lightning into our hearts.

Julia Hales has many dreams. One of which is to play the first recurring character with Down syndrome on Australian soap opera staple Home and Away, which she has watched since its very first episode in 1988.

What follows is a series of autobiographical snapshots, inviting the audience to share in Hales’ history, her hopes, dreams and identity. Family, friends and lovers are all part of her deeply personal account of her experiences as a daughter, actor, dreamer and person with Down syndrome. She brings her 20 years of stage experience and training to amplify the voices and aspirations of a community rarely seen on stage, in a joyful uplifting performance accompanied by video, dance and song.

Book now for a profoundly personal and uniquely Australian production.

Presented by the Sydney Opera House.
