After his son (Liu Ye) failed the college entrance exam and had no choice but to return to their home in the mountains, the father (Teng Rujun), who had been a village postman for most of his life, decided to retire early and arranged for his son to take over his job. On the son’s first day at work, despite the father’s repeated instructions and concerns, he still couldn’t rest easy. He brought along his loyal old dog, who had been by his side for years, and decided to accompany his son on a journey to deliver mail.
At first, the father and son walked silently due to the long-standing distance between them. Gradually, through interactions with different villagers, especially a beautiful girl (Chen Hao), the two began to open up and started to have a deeper understanding of each other. Amidst the picturesque scenery, the son slowly realized the hardships and significance of his father’s work, while the father began to feel the debt he owed to his family over the past twenty years.
