War Cry

A young gay man is murdered. His killer is sentenced in the lead up to the Australian Marriage Law Postal Survey announcement. His father’s grief is interrupted by a message from a past lover, who hints at the prospect of revenge. What follows is a game of cat and mouse between a man serving a life sentence and the Intelligence Officers at Port Phillip Prison.
The result of the 2017 Marriage Law Postal Survey and the subsequent legislation amending The Marriage Act was a moment of justice and hope for many Australians.
This is a gritty drama, with dark comic moments, that examines the fall out following the murder of a young gay man in Melbourne. The characters inhabit a complex moral universe, where the lines between justice and vengeance are blurred. It is a time of generational change, which some people embrace, while others are lost in the past.
