Three new exhibitions open at Tuggeranong Arts Centre at 6pm on Friday 11 April 2025.

Join us to celebrate with the artists at the official opening of:

Peter McLean and Sharon Peoples: Walking with the Gardener
Lynne Flemons: Meander
Networks Australia: Pixel and Thread
All exhibitions are showing from 11 April to 7 June 2025.

Walking with the Gardener:
Peter McLean and Sharon Peoples were artists in residence at the Old School in Mount Wilson; Peter in 2024 and Sharon in 2023. Responding to Mt Wilson in embroidery, prints and drawings, these two artists, an embroiderer and a printmaker, set out to be immersed in, and record, the same lush environment. They have independently done so, while perceiving and hinting at the unseen hand of a spirit-like figure; The Gardener.

Established Canberra based artists, Dr Sharon Peoples has a PhD in Art History and is known for her hand and machine embroidery, while Peter McLean, a printmaker, works across print techniques, drawing and installation. They share an interest in nature, the environment and gardening.

Meander:
Meander is an exhibition awarded by TAC for the 2023 Lanyon Prize. It is a response to the artist’s time during a Craft and Design Canberra residency spent walking and drawing in the Gudgenby Valley, Namadgi National Park. Her body of work explores the creeks that flow through this valley through drawings made on site and paintings developed in the studio.

Lynne Flemons is an Australian artist currently based in Canberra, ACT. She has a BA (Visual) from the Australian National University (ANU), a Postgrad Bachelor of Teaching, Western Sydney University, and a Master of Philosophy (Visual Art) ANU.

Pixel and Thread:
Pixel and Thread is an exhibition showcasing the diverse ways digital technology can enhance creativity for textile artists and makers. The Networks Australia artists experiment with technologies like artificial intelligence, photography, programming, and automation, skillfully weaving them into their textile creations.

Networks Australia is a collective of over 30 artists based in the Canberra region and surrounds. The group includes established artists who have shaped Australian art through their roles in tertiary art education, as well as emerging artists still developing their craft. Members work across various media, including textiles, drawing, sculpture, photography, and more.

This exhibition includes works from Angela Coleman, Beverly Moxon, Carol Cooke, Dotti Le Sage, Janet Long, Josie Cosgrove, Karyn Fearnside, Liz Perry, Monique van Nieuwland, Ola Robertson, Pinal Maniar, Rozalie Sherwood, Susan Hey.
