Experience the magic of winter under the stars at this year’s Melville Midwinter, a free family-friendly event taking place on Saturday 21 June 2025 at Dyoondalup Point Walter.

Held on the longest night of the year and in celebration of the Noongar season of Makuru, Melville Midwinter invites the community to gather for an evening of song, storytelling, poetry, theatre and firelight.

Curated with care, this intimate riverside event invites reflection, connection and renewal, with roving performances, interactive installations, warming food and the now-iconic night swim in the Derbarl Yerrigan (Swan River).

This year’s program features new works from some of WA’s most exciting creatives, including a special site-responsive monologue by Sam Nerida, a collaborative Noongar story by Rickeeta and Alton Walley, and a hauntingly beautiful music performance by Mel Robinson and Iain Grandage. Plus, don’t miss community-led poetry, live music by Kangaroos with Machine Guns, and a host of other performances across the reserve.

Whether you’re drawn by the storytelling, the hot soup or the winter plunge, Melville Midwinter is a chance to pause, celebrate and embrace the season in good company.
