Pekkly Mammoth

Deep within the icy Siberian wilderness, a groundbreaking discovery was made: a perfectly preserved, pregnant woolly mammoth encased in the frost for tens of thousands of years. Scientists gathered, tools in hand, ready to unlock secrets of the Ice Age. But as the frozen behemoth thawed, something extraordinary happened – music.

From the mammoth’s icy womb emerged Pekkly Mammoth, a fully formed jazz band. Sporting woolly coats, tiny tusks (for dramatic flair), and a knack for syncopation, this band of time traveling musical anomalies began their quest to revive jazz with a prehistoric twist.

The band claims their roots are quite literally as old as time, combining Ice Age authenticity with modern jazz brilliance. Their music mixes primal rhythms (inspired by the stampede of mammoth herds) with African and Middle Eastern improvisational melodies that could melt glaciers.

Pekkly Mammoth is a trio comprising of Fazza, Jon and Valerios and is becoming a force in the jazz world, leaving audiences warm in their frigid wake.

When asked how they plan to evolve musically, their tusky bassist quips, “We’re just trying not to go extinct… again.”
