The “Hot Sand Hoppers” are a new band with a mix of familiar and emerging faces. Paul moved to Perth in 2022 and is joined by: John Healy - a well-known string bass player, John Beaton – a pianist returning from a long rest since playing in the formative years of the club, Richard Pooley - a busy drummer also back to the trad scene after a long break from the genre, Aaron Canny – a trombonist who’s played at the club several times, and Matt Knight – a trumpeter who’s done some big band work at the club.
The players are excited. They play steaming hot high-energy vintage jazz as you love to hear it. And its all danceable.
