Celebrate International Day of People with Disability at Woden’s World!
Woden Town Square will burst to life as twelve vibrant community arts groups unite to celebrate International Day of People with Disability (I-Day). From 5pm on Wednesday 3 December, performers of all ages and abilities will take to the stage in an uplifting showcase of creativity, movement and community spirit.
This year, Woden’s World goes global through a special partnership with ON DISPLAY Global, the New York–based international initiative honouring I-Day. Each year, community leaders across more than 100 locations coordinate live, human sculpture courts that are shared with audiences around the world.
The evening will open with a breathtaking five minutes of silent stillness, connecting Woden Town Square with simultaneous ON DISPLAY Global performances across the globe. Each local group will then share its own unique performance, culminating in a powerful finale: more than 140 performers joining hands in flowing guided spirals inspired by the Golden Ratio – the mathematical pattern that shapes beauty in nature.
Featuring performances by:
The Chamaeleon Collective
Project Dust
Fresh Funk
BOLD Moves Taylor and Woden
ZEST Dance for Wellbeing
Canberra Dance Theatre’s GOLD Company and CDTribe
Passion and Purpose
Hilal Dance Australia
Subsdance
Worldly Good Choir
The celebration continues with ON DISPLAY, a 20-minute live sculpture court created by people of all abilities and mirrored simultaneously in more than 55 countries.
