Summary: In 1644, the Qing troops had occupied most part of the territory except Fujian. Zheng Zhilong, the Military Commander of Fujian, supported Zhu Yujian, the Prince of Tang of Southern Ming Dynasty, to come to the throne. Zheng Sen, Zheng Zhilong's son, had been talented in both literary training and military exercise and resolved to repay the country with supreme loyalty since his childhood. So, he won the highly opinion of the Emperor and was granted the royal surname as well as the first name Cheng Gong. Zheng Chenggong was determined to recover Taiwan, which had been occupied, by the Dutchmen, and thus winning the respect and support of the people. A "People's Petition" with the request to recover Taiwan was submitted. The Emperor of Qing Dynasty also attached importance to national interest and supported Zheng Chenggong, the general of Southern Ming, to recover Taiwan. In 1661, Zheng Chenggong, in command of China's military forces and people who shared a common hatred against the enemy, recovered Taiwan from the Dutchmen at one blow. He became the great national hero in the history of China.
