Gasworks Summer Kids Holiday Program

Sun painting from fired pigments by Abbra Kotzlarkzyk
Tuesday 13th January 2026, 10am - 12pm
Age: 5 – 11 years
Using charcoal and graphite powder, we will learn how to paint and etch using traditional drawing materials on paper. We will look to medieval sources to make a sun painting, exploring how different textures inform a range of effects and emotions in the final artwork.  @abbra_czyk

Plant dye & painting workshop by Abbra Kotzlarkzyk
Tuesday 13th January 2026, 12.30 - 2.30pm
Age: 5 – 11 years
Using a range of seasonal flowers and other materials from the garden, we will learn how to make plant dyes. We will explore painting with the dyes onto various watercolour papers, and watch how they interact with flower stamps and wax and crayon rubbings made from our local surroundings.   @abbra_czyk

Coppersmithing by Ben Storich
Wednesday 21st January 2026, 9am – 11am
Ages: 8 – 13 years
Delve into the ancient craft of metalsmithing by shaping copper into a bowl or plate. Alchemists associated copper with the planet Venus, and what better way to experience its unique properties than to shape it with your own hands using hammers on tree trunks! The process teaches us a lot about metal as a fundamental element we take so much for granted in the hidden wiring of our contemporary world. You will be the proud owner of a precious, handcrafted item of copper, unless it gives you more joy to pass it on to a loved one!

Fencing! With Chris!
Wednesday 21st January 2026, 10am - 12.00
Age: 8+
En garde! Learn about the history of fencing and enjoy an active session of this strategic sport - a great workout for your body and your mind.

Kid's Printmaking to celebrate Biderap season with Elijah Money!
Wednesday 21st Jan 2026, 11-12.30

Join Elijah Money in making your very own printed artwork. Together we will be celebrating Biderap season by using your creativity to pay homage to local Kulin Nations weather seasons. Using stamps and collected content on site, you'll be able to create your very own artwork to take home.
