Hue Blanes
Website
A virtuoso pianist with a musky, melancholic singing voice, Hue Blanes has been playing music since he was seven. He is a Melbourne institution, dug in deeper than a tick, and co-runs Jazz Party, a pop-up underground music dive, and plays keys for soul/funk legends The Bamboos.
A founding member of electro hip-hop outfit The Melodics, Mr Blanes is musical director on the Aboriginal comedy The New Black, and currently plays keys with The Harry James Angus Band.
Hue is classically trained, a jazz fiend, and has pop chops, but despite an ability to bust out good time rags that Jelly Roll Morton would approve of, is no stranger to the black dog. He is a prolific musical craftsman, and turns out instrospective, jaunty songs full of quirk and ennui. He works with the greats, and he works alone. - Official Facebook Page
