The War on Drugs is an American indie rock band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, formed in 2005 by Adam Granduciel (vocals, guitar) and Kurt Vile (electric guitar, various instruments). The band currently consists of Granduciel, alongside David Hartley (bass, guitar), Robbie Bennett (keyboards, guitar) and Steven Urgo (drums, percussion).
The War on Drugs released their debut studio album, Wagonwheel Blues, in 2008. Its follow-up, Slave Ambient, was released in 2011 to critical acclaim.
