Elton John announces Australian tour

It’s been 40 years since Sir Elton John’s illustrious career as a pop-rock star had lift off with the single Rocket Man - and he’s just announced he’ll be celebrating the milestone with a world tour taking in a bunch of Australian dates in November.

The landmark Australian tour will include a special run of shows in parts of the country Elton has never visited before (Perth and Canberra) - and conclude somewhere he’s been many, many times (it will be his 42nd show at the iconic Sydney Entertainment Centre).

The absence of other east coast shows leaves open the possibility of further announcements. The only other major event occurring around the same time is baby-boomer mega-fest One Night On Earth - the lineup for which is at present unannounced.

The announcement comes just days before the release of Good Morning To The Night, the debut album yielded by Sir Elton's recent collaboration with Australian pop duo Pnau. It's set for release on July 27th and is expected to debut at #1 in the UK.

Tickets go on sale on Monday, August 6th at 9am.
