The ARIA #1 Chart Awards are back this year to honour Australian artists who achieved a number one single, album or music DVD in the period between August 2010 and August 2012.
TV and music personality Chit Chat will host the event, which is held at The Ivy Sun Room on August 10, and is to feature live acoustic performances.
In the past two years, a selection of Australian acts from The Wiggles to AC/DC spent 61 weeks in the #1 position across the ARIA singles, album or music DVD charts. Over the same period, 84 singles from Australian musicians were awarded Gold, Platinum or multi-Platinum status, while 73 albums were accredited.
"A number one on the ARIA Charts is a wonderful achievement for an Australian artist", said Dan Rosen, CEO ARIA. "This year’s recipients are a mix of established and new artists across a diverse range of genres, demonstrating the ongoing vitality of the Australian music industry."
