Drake to produce posthumous Aaliyah album

Drake is apparently planning to executive produce Aaliyah’s upcoming posthumous album, in addition to featuring her vocals on his new single.

In an interview with Tim Westwood Drake hinted at having “special things” related to Aaliyah coming soon, going on to say that the plans spell “great things for music.”

HipHopDX reported that Producer Jeffrey “J. Dub” Walker was quoted in March as saying an unreleased song titled Steady Ground would appear on the project. However, Aaliyah’s brother, Rashad Haughton, later said that no such album was in the works.

The Young Money rapper is set to debut his new track featuring Aaliyah at this weekend’s OVO Festival in his hometown of Toronto.

Drake is no stranger to the late songstress or her sound, having sampled At Your Best (You Are Love) for his track Unforgettable, and having a tattoo of her face on his back.
