Green Day partner with Angry Birds for Facebook game

In a first for Rovio Entertainment - the creators of Angry Birds - the animated game has teamed with Grammy Award-winning trio Green Day for a ten-level musical episode.

Launching as a part of the Finnish company’s Angry Birds Friends, the ten themed level episode for the brand’s Facebook offshoot will feature band members Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tre Cool as bad pig characters.

Armstrong said the pop punk band are addicted to the Angry Birds game. “We’re all fans of Angry Birds,” said the frontman. “It’s such an addictive game that when we first started playing it we couldn’t stop. Go Team Green!”

Rovio CMO said: “We are beyond excited. Two amazing brands working together on a one-of-a-kind collaboration — we can’t wait for our fans to explore this new Green Day world.”

Players will also enjoy hearing Green Day’s lead single Oh Love (from the band’s upcoming ninth album ¡Uno!) while playing the game, as well as an exclusive premiere of the track Troublemaker.

Green day are on the verge of releasing the first of three new albums with ¡Uno! releasing on September 25, ¡Dos! arriving mid November and ¡Tré! set for release in January next year.

The news follows Kanye West's rumoured meeting with the creators of Angry Birds in January as part of his DONDA Movement. The outcome of that meeting is yet to be revealed.
