Madonna sounds off again

She may be the same age as your mum, or maybe even your grandmother, but Madonna can still do high-kicks in skirts and wear short-shorts if she likes. This week Madge kicked off her US tour at Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Centre, taking to the stage two and a half hours behind schedule.

After a scandalous three-month tour of Europe, Madonna reports that she is more than happy to be partying in the USA (Miley Cyrus style). “Never forget how lucky you are to live where you live and have the freedom that you have. In my travels around the world the one thing I truly witnessed is we in America have freedom of speech, freedom of expression,” the singer said, after speaking of the arrest of three members of all-girl punk rock group Pussy Riot.

Madonna was recently sued by Russian activists who claimed to be offended by her support of gay rights at her show in St. Petersburg, where a law passed in February made it illegal to promote homosexuality to minors. She told crowds that around 80 men had been unfairly jailed in the area due to their sexual orientation, and the 20,000 fans booed in support.

As expected, Madonna provided quite a show for her Philadelphia fans, performing for nearly two hours with what seemed like endless costume changes and dance routines to make you blush. “Sometimes it’s easier to show your butt than show your feelings. Maybe tonight we can all live dangerously,” she said, as she strutted the stage in her underwear.

Unfortunately, Australian fans will be missing out on Madonnas racy outfits and classic hits, after an official apology was issued via a recorded YouTube video message. “I am really and truly sorry. I know the last time I was on tour I missed Australia as well. My children are my first priority. I really feel I would be an irresponsible parent if I didn’t stop my tour and spend time with them. When I do come to Australia I will have made the wait worth your while and I will put on the greatest show on earth.” Big call.
