The Angels announce new lineup, album and tour

Aussie rockers The Angels have announced not only a new album, but a new lineup and tour.

After the departure of singer Doc Neeson - who left the group to pursue a solo career in 2011 - the band found a new singer in rock veteran and Screaming Jets frontman Dave Gleeson.

According to ToneDeaf, Gleeson was spotted in the audience of a show last year and invited onstage by guitarist John Brewster for a few songs before becoming a card-carrying member of the group.

“John and I looked at each other, and we knew when we heard Dave’s voice on Marseilles and I Ain’t The One…. we just knew right there, that night, it could work,” said Rick Brewster of the chance encounter.

Along with freshly recruited drummer Nick Norton, the band have recorded their new album, Take It To The Streets (out August 17), which was recorded in just nine days with no record deal.

The record will initially be packaged as a limited edition 2 CD set, complete with a bonus live disc of new and classic songs recorded at QPAC in Brisbane.

The band are touring the album with a mammoth schedule ahead: a national headline tour, an appearance at a day on the green and a headline spot at the Sydney Blues and Roots Festival.
