Sydney Festival reveals first acts for 2013 program

Sydney Festival has revealed its first acts for the 2013 program in advance of the full announcement slated for Tuesday 23 October. 

David Byrne (former Talking Heads frontman) and St. Vincent (Annie Clark) will be performing together, showcasing their collaborative work from their debut record, Love This Giant. 

The pair will be backed by a brass band, rather than the regular rock line-up, to help recreate the brass heavy sound of the record in a live setting, announcing two shows at the State Theatre on Thursday 17 January and Friday 18 January. 

The New York based duo have also been unveiled as the headline act for Hobart's MONA FOMA Festival on Sunday 20 January. 

Also announced for Sydney Festival is fashion and music mash up, Semele Walk, featuring costumes by fashion heavyweight, Vivienne Westwood. It will be exhibited on a 30 metre bright white catwalk to the dramatic soundtrack of Handel's Semele between Friday 11 and Tuesday 15 January at Sydney Town Hall

The third act revealed is Latin street circus group Circolombia, who will performing their stunning acrobatic act URBAN at Parramatta's Riverside Theatre over several dates, from Tuesday 15 January through to Sunday 27 January.

Tickets to the first three shows will go on sale Thursday 13 September via Ticketmaster.
