Ringo Starr announces Australian tour

Ringo Starr, a quarter of one of history's biggest bands, The Beatles, narrator of Thomas The Tank Engine and card carrying Member of the Order of the British Empire has announced an Australian tour in February 2013.

Ringo has shows booked in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth with his All Starr band, comprised of other music powerhouses Steve Lukather (Toto), Richard Page (Mr. Mister), Todd Rundgren, Mark Rivera, Gregg Rolie (Santana and Journey) and Gregg Bissonette.

The tour is sandwiched between dates in Japan and New Zealand, and will feature classic Ringo hits like “It Don’t Come Easy”, “Photograph”, “Little Help From My Friends”, “Yellow Submarine” and “Wings”, from Starr’s recently released 17th solo record, which makes me wonder whether he had a chat with Paul McCartney about cross-promoting their post-Beatles products given McCartney’s band of the same name.

It has a very cute film clip.

All Starr’s hits include “Rosanna,” “Broken Wings,” “Hello It’s Me,” and “Black Magic Woman,” which any karaoke expert, smooth tunes operator or easy listening fans worth their salt would be able to belt out from memory.

It will be the first performances Ringo has had in Australia since The Beatles’ infamous 1964 tour.

Of the Asia-Pacific tour, Ringo said, “I am looking forward to revisiting Japan with the All Starrs and of course New Zealand and Australia. Peace and love!”

What a nice dude.

Pre-sale tickets go up Friday 2 November to Monday 5 November, and the general public can get their hands on them from Wednesday 7 November.
