Yanni announces Australian tour with 15 piece orchestra and adopts panda

Composer and performer, Yanni, has extended his World Tour into Australia, with shows in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth

He will be performing his passionate, soaring melodies and lush orchestration with a 15 piece orchestra in celebration of his CD/DVD Yanni: Live at El Morro, Puerto Rico, which captured two sold-out concerts in December 2011 at the historic 16th-century Castillo San Felipe Del Morro in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The dates were the first-ever performances at this recognised UNESCO Heritage Site.

Performing at the castle helped Yanni cross another entry off his professional bucket list, realising a 20 year in the making dream of playing at iconic global sites; he has also staged concerts at the Acropolis in Greece, the TajMahal in India, and the Forbidden City in China.

He's also passionate about the environment and animals, "adopting" a panda he named Santorini with the Chinese Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, and collaborating with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) to raise awareness about giant panda conservation.

You can get involved in by purchasing a $50 Limited Edition "Santorini" Panda Adoption to receive a symbolic adoption kit that includes a plush panda, a photo of Yanni and Santorini, a DVD with exclusive content (including footage of Yanni and Santorini), a certificate of adoption, a re-useable tote bag, and an information card with a panda photo.

If you're keen to see Yanni in the flesh performing his masterpieces and probably talking about his panda bear, you can get tickets from 9am Monday 22 October.
