Falls Festival do their bit for Tasmania's bushfire survivors

Every December, the Falls Music & Arts Festival sends out the year with a bang and welcomes in the new one with a veritable feast of fine tunes, warm weather, camping and arts acts across its four days - and 2013 was no exception.

While the Falls Music & Arts Festival site at Marion Bay was untouched by this week’s devastating bushfires, many of the neighbouring towns have not been so lucky.

The Falls farm site has been declared a safe zone, and is now being used as a refuge for displaced locals, staff members and friends alike who have lost houses, businesses, livestock and livelihoods.

After doing their bit to help, the people behind Falls are now calling on all of their friends – from those who love Falls to those who love Tasmania – to help the people and communities affected by the bushfires by donating to the Red Cross, here.

The Falls Music & Arts Festival say they will continue to work with local councils to support their communities in all of their various capacities. The festival will be holding additional fundraising efforts in the weeks to come, details of which will be available on their website.

It's always heartening to see people extend the arms of community in times of hardship, and Falls Festival whose bread and butter is the fraternity of the music and arts would be well versed in executing the embrace of comradeship at this time. Well done, Falls Festival.
