Kangaroo Island's FEASTival launches its 2013 program

Kangaroo Island might be just a little piece of land off the Great Australian Bight, but when it comes to fine food and wine, its reputation is amongst the biggest in the country (I hear it's not bad looking, either).

This year, the island’s annual FEASTival pushes the boundaries with a program chock-full of exciting events that combine top-shelf feasting with a sense of adventure. You can hop on board a mystery fishing charter, where the menu is only decided once the fish are caught; wade out to a tidal oyster bar for the Shellfish Floating Lunch; pack your "Utes and Boots" and drive off to a mystery picnic location, or crash a local producer’s dinner party at one of the Table Surfing events.

There’s some more regular foodie affairs on offer too, like masterclasses, tastings and themed dinners. Masterchef’s George Calombaris will create an exotic menu from local produce by the water, Maggic Beer will put on a rustic Roman banquet, and the festival’s main event will allow you to sample every delicious thing Kangaroo Island produces.

The festival takes place across Kangaroo Island from April 25-30 - visit the official website for full program details, including event times, locations and admission prices.
