Neon Festival of Independent Theatre inaugural program announced

Melbourne Theatre Company has announced the program for its inaugural Neon Festival of Independent Theatre, to be staged at Southbank Theatre from May to July this year.

The festival revolves around five core productions, each produced and staged with complete curatorial freedom by five of Melbourne’s top independent theatre companies.

The productions include Daniel Schlusser Ensemble’s Menagerie, Fraught Outfit’s On The Bodily Education of Young Girls, The Hayloft Project’s By Their Own Hands, The Rabble’s Story of O, and The Sovereign Wife by DIY drag–theatre troupe Sisters Grimm.

All tickets to the five core productions are $25 and are on sale now.

A series of free public talks and industry-only events will take place alongside the five productions.
