Baby Animals get back in the spotlight

The Baby Animals’ third album This Is Not The End, out on May 31 through their own Social Family Records, is their first in twenty years. Singer Suze DeMarchi and guitarist Dave Leslie are joined by Dario Bortolin on bass and Mick Skelton on drums. “I’m really, really proud of this album,” enthuses DeMarchi. “I love every track and I can’t wait to perform these songs on tour. I love playing live; gigs really are the pay off. We want to go wherever this record takes us.” The band does three club dates June 14 to 29 in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

This Is Not The End has all the hallmarks of Baby Animals, with DeMarchi and Leslie penning all the songs. Some touch on the break-up of her marriage to Extreme guitarist Nuno Bettencourt. That the music industry has changed since their last recording doesn’t phase the band. “We feel more driven than we were when we were younger,” says DeMarchi. “We decided to buck the system with this record and put it out independently. The music business is so stale right now, we wanted to do it differently. We’ve been able to really reconnect with our fans on social media.”
