Splendour 2013 sideshows announced

When Splendour In The Grass sold out in record time, many of us shed a silent tear of dismay. However, the good people over at Secret Sounds generously announced a few sideshows this morning; we've put together a list of every Splendour sideshow announced to date. Enjoy!

DEAP VALLY
If you caught their maiden tour of Australia earlier this year, it’ll come as no surprise that Silverlake rockers Lindsey Troy (guitar) and Julie Edwards (drums) – aka DEAP VALLY – were chosen by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs to open a recent Las Vegas gig.

They’ve also carved it up alongside Mumford & Sons, Eagles of Death Metal, Muse and The Vaccines, and post Splendour and these sideshows they’ll hit stages at Lollapalooza, Pukkelpop, Leeds Festival and Reading Festival to name a few.

Deap Vally - The Tote Hotel, Melbourne

Deap Vally - Oxford Art Factory, Sydney

VILLAGERS
Villagers have just released their highly anticipated second album {Awayland}, the follow-up to 2010’s Mercury Award nominated debut, Becoming a Jackal. The debut was performed almost entirely by O’Brien but the new album {Awayland}, recorded in Donegal, Ireland is an entirely different beast. With the Ivor Novello award winning Irishman inviting his fellow touring partners to perform his songs as a group, they've expanded on their folk sound and explored whole new territory.

Villagers - The Factory Theatre, Sydney

Villagers - The Corner Hotel, Melbourne

Villagers - Fly By Night Musicians Club, Perth

JAMES BLAKE
Emotionally resonate, beautifully realised. Two years back James Blake released one of the best albums of 2011 in his eponymous debut. With 2013’s Overgrown, the classically trained pianist/post-dubstep auteur surpasses all expectation. From touches of R&B and gospel (see single “Retrograde”) to collaborations with RZA, and Brian Eno – Overgrown is a perfect listen. “James Blake is a modern master of emotional speculation,” argued Pitchfork – and we agree. With two shows in March selling out in just minutes, get in quickly: these tickets will go fast.

James Blake - Sydney Opera House, Sydney

James Blake - Astor Theatre, Melbourne

James Blake - Palais Theatre, Melbourne

OF MONSTERS AND MEN
A lot has happened for Of Monsters And Men in the last twelve months; both internationally and here on Australian shores.  Following their debut appearance at Sydney and Melbourne clubs in Winter 2012, they then returned 6 months later to step up to larger rooms – as well play the St Jerome’s Laneway Festival.  Now, they are tipped as one of the acts not to miss, following the highly anticipated announcement of the Splendour In The Grass 2013 lineup.  Chugg Entertainment are thrilled to confirm that adding to this ever-growing and distinguished string of appearances, the Icelandic tour-de-force will be playing headline shows in Sydney and Melbourne this coming July/August.

Of Monsters and Men - Enmore Theatre, Sydney

Of Monsters and Men - Palais Theatre, Melbourne

DARWIN DEEZ
Having previously toured in 2010 with Parklife and 2011 with Groovin’ The Moo, this will be Darwin’s third trip to Australia. Don’t miss your chance to witness a rare insight into everything a pop star should be, and yet so rarely is, as Darwin Deez plays headline shows in Melbourne and Sydney this July.

Darwin Deez - The Standard, Sydney

Darwin Deez - The Corner Hotel, Melbourne

COLD WAR KIDS
The Californian indie-rockers are poised to replicate, if not supersede, the monstrous success of Mine Is Yours with new LP Dear Miss Lonelyhearts, the anthem to 2011. Currently touring the US, the band is looking forward to coming up for air to play for you in at Splendour In The Grass and its sideshows.

FRANK OCEAN
In 2012 Ocean delivered his highly acclaimed, five-star debut studio album, Channel Orange (Def Jam/Universal Music Australia), which debuted at #2 on the US Billboard Chart and the UK Albums Chart, placed #9 on the ARIA Chat and was certified Gold in all three countries. Channel Orange brought Ocean a host of award nominations and a Grammy win for Best Urban Contemporary Album, the BRIT Award for International Male Artist 2013, the Soul Train Album of the Year award and the MTV Award for Man of the Year. Last month Time Magazine named Ocean in its annual list of the 100 Most Influential People.
