Adelaide Fringe brings $64m to South Australia

The 2013 Adelaide Fringe delivered a massive $64.6 million to South Australia – a 34% increase on the previous year ($48.2 million).

It drew over 1.8 million people, an increase of 13%. A record 407,153 tickets were sold, a 10.9 % increase on 2012’s 367,000. Of the 6139 performances, 430 were world premieres.

The $64.6 million figure – by independent company Economic Research Consultants – is based on ticket sales, overall attendances, food and beverage consumption, transport and accommodation. Total estimated bed nights created from interstate and overseas audiences and artists increased to over 52,000, an 18% increase on 2012’s 44,000 bed nights.

Next year’s Fringe runs from February 14 to March 16.

BankSA, its main sponsor since 2006, this year extended its partnership for another four years until 2017.
