Red Jumpsuit Apparatus: The new face of touring

In what could be a world first, Aussie promoters Kingdom Sounds and ticketing platform GiggedIn, have teamed up to test a new way to run a tour.

For their return visit in November, US band The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus - who are touring new EP Et Tu, Brute? - have invited fans to decide which of the six cities they will play in between November 7 and 15.

Fans are asked to go to redjumpsuit.giggedin.com and pledge to buy a ticket online. Deadline is Thursday August 8.

The six cities which get the highest number of pledges “win”. The fans are only charged if their city wins. Already 3,000 Australians have joined the campaign after the band announced it on Facebook some weeks back.

Not surprisingly, the tour is titled Choose Our Adventure. Aside from the capital cities, other choices include Geelong, Towoomba, Byron Bay, Gympie, the Gold Coast, Port Macquarie, Wollongong, Canberra, Bendigo, Newcastle, Armidale, NSW Central Coast, Mona Vale and Newcastle.

Laurie Mahon, lead promoter at Kingdom Sounds says, “We jumped on this innovative concept because it gives fans the opportunity to show how much they love and how much they really want Red Jumpsuit to come to their hometown. I’m hoping some of the underdog cities like Gympie win, but in the end it’s up to the fans to decide.”

Edwin Onggo, founder of GiggedIn, adds, “Music is about the fans and GiggedIn is about giving them the power to make shows they want a reality. This will be the first time fans have complete control over bringing an awesome international act like Red Jumpsuit to their hometown and I can’t wait to see which towns fight the hardest to come out on top.”
