With Gurrumul, Amadou & Mariam, Fuck Buttons, The Cinematic Orchestra and The Polyphonic Spree amongst its headliners, Melbourne Festival has unveiled its largest music program ever.
Over 36 shows from six continents, set to perform seven venues across the city, the 2013 music program includes ARIA winner Gurrumul at Sidney Myer Music Bowl, backed by an orchestral collaboration; Archie Roach will perform over two nights at the Arts Centre and New Jersey’s Yo La Tengo will bring to bear three decades of experience for an exclusive Australian performance in the acoustic rapture of Hamer Hall.
Melbourne Festival runs from 11 – 27 October with more names still to be announced.
Recently appointed Director of Contemporary Music Declan Forde said, “This year’s program is a response to the depth and variety of music appreciation that you find in Melbourne audiences.”
Tickets go on sale on Friday 16 August at 9am prices start at $25.
