Boomerang Festival tickets with Eventfinder

The inaugural Boomerang Festival is just over three weeks away and Eventfinda has teamed with the three-day event to sell tickets and shine a spotlight on Indigenous culture.

Boomerang marks a number of firsts for Australia, never has an Indigenous festival encapsulated music, theatre, dance, visual arts and film to this calibre. It’s a commercial event, independent of any governmental contribution and features its artists in a way they have not yet been presented in a commercial field before, as headliners in their own land.

Headlined by Gurrumul Yunupingu and Archie Roach, Boomerang will be held in Byron Bay over the long weekend next month with three full days of performances, workshops, dance participations, conversations as well as the launch of the Boomerang International Indigenous Film Festival (BIIFF) featuring shorts, documentaries and feature films including the award winning Reel Injun featuring Clint Eastwood and Adam Beach.

Created by Bluesfest’s Peter Noble and Rhonda Roberts to bring together the world's first nations artists, Boomerang’s focus is equally to support the artists and their cultures as well as the exchange of differing ideas and perspectives.

"It really is a cultural immersion,” said Roberts. “It's about celebrating world cultures, mother tongues and first instruments.

"So we have people coming from the Asia Pacific rim, Canada, Finland, New Zealand, and of course remote communities and urban communities across Australia and it really is about all sectors of the arts."

Boomerang will take place on Bundjalung land, at the home of the Byron Bay Bluesfest - Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm site over this October long weekend.
