Rocky Horror Picture Show announces full Australian cast

A selection of local musical theatre performers will join Craig McLachlan (as Frank N Furter) in the new all-Australian cast production of the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Producers John Frost and Howard Panter announced today that the role of Rocky has been cast to Brendan Irving (An Officer and a Gentleman) in his first leading role. Magenta will be played by rising talent Erika Heynatz, who was recently nominated for a Helpmann Award for her debut theatre performance in Legally Blonde: The Musical.

Other characters include Riff Raff played by Kristian Lavercombe, Columbia the groupie played by Ashlea Pyke (Legally Blonde) and Eddie/Dr Scot played by Nicholas Christo (My Fair Lady).

Performers with experience in other musicals like Shane Warne and The Addams Family are Christie Whelan Browne and Tim Maddren who play the young naïve couple Janet and Brad. Vincent Hooper (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels), Luigi Lucente (Wicked), Meghan O'Shea (A Chorus Line) and Angela Scundi (Spring Awakening) will be masked as Phantoms and James Maxfield (A Chorus Line) is the Swing/Dance Captain.

The season premieres in Brisbane in January and will be doing the time warp again in Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne.

"There is no one who can play the character of Frank N Furter like Craig McLachlan,” John Frost and Howard Panter told Broadway world, “He oozes that risqué charm that an actor playing Frank needs, as well as bucket loads of sex appeal. And after an extensive audition process we have secured a group of exciting musical theatre talents to complete the cast. We know audiences are going to love doing the Time Warp with this wonderful cast again."
