Sydney’s bad boys for love, Palms, have emerged from a brain- storming session with an idea that is both left field, and genius-like in its simplicity. They are going on a national tour to play the songs from their brand new, and really excellent album Crazy Rack, live in Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sydney and Wollongong.
Palms’ audacious plan involves playing the songs from Crazy Rack live in a series of rooms across the country with a stage at one end and a bar at the other. A small fee will charged in exchange for entry. Whether this completely upends the current music industry orthodoxy of music being streamed for free and accompanying surf and skate videos remains to be seen.
What we do know is this: A Palms show causes a serotonin release of the sweetest kind. If you go you will have a really good time. The reason behind this is that they’re one the country’s greatest exponents of buzzsaw pop with no dud songs. They’ve got lyrics that rip your heart out whilst making you want to throw your arms around your best bud and tell them that you love them at the top of your lungs, whilst spilling your drink all over them. That’s Palms, and that’s what this national tour is all about. You go, you see a great band, you might get a little bit drunk, buy a t-shirt, get hugged, and have your ears kissed by sweet buzzsaw angels.
Why would you miss that?
