Diesel Takes 'Americana Tour' Across The Country

You don't have to wait for July 4 to celebrate all things Americana, 'cause the American-born Australian musician, Diesel, is all set to circle the country with his Americana National Tour this September through November. The tour is off the back of his 15th career album, Americana.

The mammoth ride will kick off in Canberra then will make its way all the way to Sydney, Melbourne, Revesby, Perth, Ravenswood, Rooty Hill, Adelaide, Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, North Perth, Katoomba, Dee Why, Bathurst, Dubbo, Balaclava, Shoalhaven Heads, Belmore, Port Macquarie, Coffs Harbour, Old Bar, Cronulla, Wollongong, Hamilton, Booval, Elsternwick, Northcote, Rozelle, Circular Quay, Hillarys and Coogee.

To Mark Lizotte, the musician known and loved as Diesel, Americana is the very core of his being. It’s the music of his childhood and, as an artist born in America and raised in Australia, it serves as a link back to the land of his birth.

Being one of Australia’s most lauded, accomplished and hard-working rock guitarists and singers, Diesel pays tribute to his musical influences in the album, by putting his own take on a collection of classic songs.

‘Ring Of Fire’ by Johnny Cash; ‘Rave On’ by Buddy Holly; ‘Born To Run’ by Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band; ‘Circle Game’ by Joni Mitchell; ‘Here Comes My Girl’ by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers; ‘Queen Jane Approximately’ by Bob Dylan; ‘Angel From Montgomery’ by Bonnie Raitt; ‘Fire And Rain’ by James Taylor; ‘Born On The Bayou’ by Creedence Clearwater Revival; ‘Don’t Let It Bring You’ Neil Young & Crazy Horse; ‘Rag Mama Rag’ by The Band and ‘Scarlett Ribbons’ by Jo Stafford are some of the songs he put his unique stamp on.

Each song is a bona fide classic, wholly deserving of care and attention so as not to tread on the toes of musical history, but it was equally important for Diesel to add his own tinge to songs such as Queen Jane Approximately by Bob Dylan.

The selection process was tortuous – “It’s such a deep well; how far back do you go? I literally went: Ok, I’ve got five minutes, grab the most essential things out of your house before the house burns down!’”

Catch Diesel on his Americana Tour and circle back in time, when he busted out of the garage and into the Australian psyche 27 years ago, and hear the songs that made him the man he is today!
