Fairbridge Festival Drops The First Six of Its International Acts Line Up

In what will be it's most diverse and most exhilarating program to date since it's inception in 1993, Fairbridge Festival, Western Australia's most popular family camping festival, is proud to announce the first six of 15 international acts who will be stampeding on stage along with 20 leading Australian contemporary bands and a cluster of top local artists.

These artists include:

The Chipolatas
Jarlath Henderson
Phil Wiggans and Dom Turner
Les Poules A Colin
Flats and Sharps
Kristina Olsen

Artistic Director, Rod Vervest, devoted part of 2016 attending WOMEX and the English Folk Expo in Europe, in search of the perfect talents to grace this year's Fairbridge Festival. He described the experience as: “…a real eye opener, with a fantastic array of traditional music but also so much contemporary, and twists on regional styles. It’s wonderful what young artists, in particular, are doing with revitalising trad music and making it fresh and exciting.”

Keeping the ever-burning desire to present the best of traditional and contemporary folk and world music, Fairbridge Festival's 2017 program features an expanded range of workshops and dance displays on top of the usual programming excellence.

“Anyone who has been to the event will know that it is by no means bound to a particular age group or music genre. To me, this festival is mostly about attracting a diversity of people to experience a diversity of music," said Vervest.

Fairbridge Festival kicks off on 21 April and will last for four days in the heritage-listed Fairbridge Village where over 90 acts are expected to perform across 12 venues.
