In celebration of the 50th anniversary of their idols, internationally-acclaimed Genesis tribute band The Musical Box, will be hitting our roads for the first time in January next year. They will recreate the 70s concerts of these prog pioneers kicking off at the Astor Theatre in Perth. They will then make their way to The Tivoli Theatre in Brisbane and the State Theatre in Sydney with the final show in Melbourne's Palais Theatre.
The Musical Box were formed in 1993 in Montreal, Quebec to celebrate the then 20th anniversary of 'Selling England By The Pound'—Genesis' fifth studio album released in 1973. The album currently sits at number six on Rollingstone's list of 50 Greatest Prog Albums of All Time. With the license and endorsement from lead singer Peter Gabriel and Genesis themselves, the band have been wowing thousands and thousands of fans in the world's most prestigious stages.
And now, it's Australia's turn to witness just how extravagant and artistic The Musical Box's live shows are. Fans are sure to have that dreamlike and nostalgic feeling as they watch the band play the hits from 'Selling England By The Pound' album, with double-necked guitars and replicas of gladiators and giant sunflowers that aggrandised the early Genesis shows.
