John Prine Locks In Three Australian Dates For April Next Year

Following the AU leg of his 'The Tree Of Forgiveness' tour last March, John Prine returns for three Australian shows for 2020. Amongst the first to experience his magic next year April are Melbourne's Palais Theatre's crowd. After the first show, the two-time Grammy Award-winner will make his way to Adelaide's Thebarton Theatre before wrapping it up at Sydney's State Theatre.

If you missed his spellbinding shows last March—his first tour of Australia in over 25 years—don't make the same mistake twice. Prine's stunning performances with his band earned high praises from critics and fans alike. The singer enjoyed the shows so much that he's going back for more! Says Prine, "We are really excited to be heading back to Australia. Fiona [John's wife] and I loved every minute of our time there earlier this year. Looking forward to seeing you all again in Melbourne, Sydney and in Adelaide this time too!"

For almost half a century, John Prine has enjoyed a remarkable career. Born in 1946 in Maywood, Illinois, Prine was raised in the Midwest. His songs are filled with tales of blue collar suburbs, where country music, the Grand Ol' Opry, good southern cooking, and annual visits 'home' to Kentucky were as naturally part of his family's lives as Chicago hot dogs and baseball.

His melodic talents and phrase-turning words have seen him collaborate and perform alongside a 'who's who' of the greats. These include Bruce Springsteen, Johnny Cash, Bonnie Raitt, Iris Dement, Dan Auerbach, Tom Petty, the Everly Brothers, John Denver, Kris Kristofferson, Emmylou Harris, Carly Simon, Lucinda Williams, Norah Jones and Bette Midler to name a few.

In April 2018, he earned the highest charting album of his career with his first solo record in 13 years, 'The Tree Of Forgiveness'. Released via his own label, Oh Boy Records, the album debuted at #5 on the Billboard 200. Just a few of the accolades he has received in his lifetime include Artist of the Year at the 17th annual Americana Honors & Awards, induction into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, an Americana Lifetime Achievement Award for songwriting, being honoured at the US Library of Congress by Poet Laureate Ted Kooser plus many more. He's also survived two cancer surgeries, and continues to tour across the globe to sold-out audiences.

"One of the greatest songwriters and performers that ever was. His stage show is better than ever and attendance should be considered mandatory." - Dan Auerbach, The Black Keys

"Prine looks for transcendence through the mundane…and uses aging and the creeping passage of time as his vehicle." - Marlon Williams

"He's so good, we're gonna have to break his fingers." - Kris Kristofferson

Don't miss the legendary John Prine sharing and showcasing his incredible musical gift on stage next year!
