Maceo Plex to play Melbourne in March on top of Pitch Music & Arts set

To complement his set at Pitch Music & Arts Festival, revered DJ Maceo Plex is playing a headline show at Melbourne's 170 Russell next year March. After a seven-year absence, local demand for Maceo is extremely high—expect this to sell out in record time.

You can't have a discussion about the world's biggest dance music producer/DJs without spending some time talking about Maceo Plex. For the last five-plus years, he has been producing dancefloor classic after dancefloor classic, garnering an impressive discography that is impossible to imitate. His skill behind the decks is equally as impressive, and he is adept at closing out a festival as he is headlining a 10,000-plus capacity techno warehouse. Whether Printworks, Dimensions festival, Circoloco or Boiler Room, there aren't many events or festivals that haven't invited him to their DJ booth.

To explain the evolutionary process behind Maceo's existence, we must travel back to 1993, when his creativity was beginning to flourish. At the start, Maceo was intrigued by a pair of circular shaped objects designed for holding discs created from vinyl that produced vibrations resulting in sound and music. Soon, he began conjuring up mixes of techno, electro, and house music that quickly gained him popularity within the early '90s' rave culture.

But in 1997, while heavily influenced by the sounds of other modern funk theorists such as Model 500, Kenny Larkin, Idjut Boyz, Convextion and many more, Maceo began experimenting with hardware modules containing knobs and keys to form his early musical compositions. Seduced by the sounds of techno & electro, he grew into a technologically advanced being later to be known by various names such as Mariel Ito or Maetrik. After many years of prolific works on such labels as Treibstoff, Dumb Unit, Cocoon, Audiomatique, Modern Love, Mothership, to name a few, Maceo aka Maetrik travelled the world—playing in some of the best clubs such as Rex, Cocoon, Fabric, Womb, and many more.

A night with Maceo Plex will be one of galactic proportions—grab your tickets and don't miss out!
