Merrigong Theatre Company regrets to announce that all public events at their managed venues—the Illawarra Performing Arts Centre and Wollongong Town Hall plus The Music Lounge—will be either cancelled or postponed until midnight 14 June 2020. The premier theatre company said in a statement:

"It is with both sadness, and hope for a healthy and vibrant future for all, that we are cancelling or postponing all public events at Illawarra Performing Arts Centre, Wollongong Town Hall and The Music Lounge effective immediately until midnight 14 June 2020.

This decision comes as part of NSW Government measures to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus in our community, and after extensive consultation with management, staff, industry representatives and artists.

Our administration, box office & café will remain open, however we will continue to monitor the situation and act promptly on advice from Commonwealth and NSW Health officials. We continue to take important precautions to protect the health of our staff and performers/artists in the venue, including increased cleaning and disinfection, the provision of hand sanitiser and social distancing measures."

Meanwhile, MTC has also postponed their Speigeltent Wollongong season. New dates are to be announced soon.

Ticketholders are entitled to a refund or exchange for events that are cancelled or rescheduled. They will be contacted by email or phone within 21 days regarding their preferred option.
