Deadly 60 Live!

Hold your breath as Steve Backshall, the star of one of the most popular children’s shows on the planet, Deadly 60, is headed down under in January next year, with his new show Deadly 60 Pole To Pole Live!

Steve will be sharing a theatrical journey with audiences as he shares his experiences traveling from the South Pole to the North Pole, and his gripping encounters with deadly creatures from all corners of the globe. The tour kicks off in Brisbane before making its way to Newcastle, Frankston, Bendigo, Cairns, Townsville, the Gold Coast, Melbourne, Albany, Perth, Bunbury, Canberra and Geelong.

Aside from being an author, expedition leader, naturalist, wildlife expert and a fearless presenter, Steve Backshall has also swum with sharks, been bitten by a caiman and come face to face with some of the most venomous snakes on the planet. He has been squirted with ink by Humboldt squid, flirted with by tarantula, charged by elephants, and stared out by thresher and great hammerhead sharks but still, he maintains that wild animals pose no threat to people – in fact quite the opposite.

Rooting from his love for the wild world, Steve counted as his best pals the animals that lived around him – from the asthmatic donkey, to the grass snakes in the manure heap! After graduating from Exeter University in England, he studied martial arts in Japan, attaining his black belt. The following years saw him writing for the Indonesian Rough Guides and, during his travels, became conversant in the local language, drank blood with un-contacted tribes, nearly got caught in fatal crossfire in riots in East Timor, came nose to nose with Komodo Dragons, and attempted to walk solo across Irian Jaya (a woeful failure)!
