America in Australia? You read it right. The Grammy-Award winning rock band, America, will be winding up a slew of Australian dates this July, bringing their unique sound to Perth, Melbourne, Sydney, Sunshine Coast, Wollongong and Canberra. The band will also be playing this year's Broadbeach Country Music Festival.
With an almost five-decade career and still counting, America boasts an extensive catalogue of hits including Ventura Highway, Tin Man, Sister Golden Hair, A Horse With No Name and many more. From their formative years, America has been transcending borders with its inspirational music and positive message. The band's audiences continue to grow, comprising a loyal legion of first, second and third generation fans from different cultures, all bearing testament to the group's long-standing appeal.
Founding members of America, Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell said "We first visited Australia in the early 1970's and have enjoyed every trip since. The food. The sights. The people. We cannot wait to see all of our friends and fans in the beautiful land you call home again".
Meanwhile, Australian music icon, Russell Morris will be joining America as special guest on all shows, excluding Queensland. Morris recently released his Blues Trilogy albums – Sharkmouth, Van Diemen's Land and Red Dirt Red Heart all of which reached Top 10 on the ARIA Album chart and garnering nominations for ARIA Awards for Best Blues and Roots Album (Sharkmouth and Red Dirt Red Heart won the Awards in 2013 and 2016 respectively).
