Map showing Brolga Theatre and Convention Centre

The Brolga Theatre, which was built by the Maryborough City Council following a magnificent fund-raising effort in Maryborough, and with assistance from the State and Federal Governments, opened with a Gala Celebrity Concert on 14 July 2000. The complex is situated next to the town centre in Maryborough, right on the banks of the wide Mary River and close to accommodation and shopping.

Maryborough is the centre of the Wide Bay Burnett - a district that stretches from Gympie in the south to Bundaberg in the north and out west to the towns in the Burnett. With attractions in the region such as world heritage listed Fraser Island - the largest sand island in the world and whale watching (in season) it is the ideal place to hold your convention. Industries include timber, cane, heavy engineering, small crops, wineries and citrus.

Maryborough itself has beautiful Queenslander homes, the Mary Ann - a full-size replica of the first steam locomotive built in Maryborough in 1873, and the Mary Whistler Calliope - a steam or air-driven organ. It was once the gateway to Queensland and now emphasises its historic attractions as well as the comprehensive family history research facilities within the district. Inside an hour's flight of Brisbane and a 2½ hour drive north on the Bruce Highway, the Brolga Theatre is accessible, desirable and practical.

The Centre has established itself as a wonderful convention venue, with five main rooms:

the 919 seat main Auditorium with raked floor and comfortable lounge seating;
the 200 seat Federation Room, a flat-floored multi-purpose room that has innovative and exciting theatre space, the ability to hold exhibitions and the ideal spot for a medium-sized conference or, dinners and receptions;
the Foyer table-seats 300 and suits cabarets, civic receptions, trade shows, school formals, dinners and more;
the Conference Room - an intimate conference room that provides excellent facilities for meetings and seminars with breakout space catering for up to 20 persons; and
The Band Room - a small gathering area for rehearsals, dance warm-ups, and break-outs.
The complex is also fully air-conditioned and has modern technical support, including access to wide band internet and full bar facilities for our patrons. Built on a large property, the Brolga Theatre and Convention Centre boasts large landscaped grounds with views over the Mary river for outdoor promotions and trade displays.

As a community arts centre we are always looking to develop effective sponsorship relationships. Our thanks to Richers Transport for their support of our Friends and the 2011 Community Musical.
