History
Dodges Ferry Primary first began after a small group of community members decided there was a real need in the area for our own school. They wanted the parents of the growing community to have an input into their childrens’ education.

Dodges Ferry Primary was officially opened on May 6, 1988 with the first Principal being Margaret Bird.

Our school logo was designed by John De Stefano. The feature of the tree symbolises the school having strong roots with our community, something that we very much value today.

The naming of our sports houses was a school competition with Loatta, Mungara and Pagari chosen to pay respect to the Aboriginal land on which the school was built.

The school has grown rapidly with the expanding southern beaches community, now with around 500 students and more than 50 staff.

Facilities
Dodges Ferry Primary School is unique because of its outstanding physical setting that includes the beaches and wetlands of Frederick Henry Bay and the surrounding bush environment. We pride ourselves on the close bonds that exist between the local community and the school. Those bonds are best exemplified by the extensive shared use of school and community facilities and resources. The school is a genuine community resource that thrives because of open and generous partnerships between students, families, staff and community organisations.
